Current Drink/ Snack Obsessions

1.) Spice Dark Chocolate Mocha @ Caribou Coffee:  I have never liked Caribou but last week I had a lot of work to do and found myself there 3 days in a row.  Their store if very comfy and cozy with big leather chairs and a lit fire place.  I randomly got a spicy dark chocolate mocha and fell in love with it.  I proceeded to get one everyday last week.  Of course they are not the healthiest of drinks but they are tasty and worth it.

2.) Blue Diamond Almonds Toasted Coconut Flavor: These almonds are so good.  My serving size is half the can.  Get some now they are a great snack.

3.) Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride Celestial Seasonings Herbal Tea: My love for this product goes beyond the taste.  The taste I would say is just ok.  But the charming box it comes in and how it smells while brewing creates such a lovely Christmasy atmosphere.

Kaukauna Port Wine Cheese Cups

This cheese is so good.  I don't know how I have gone this long without telling you how obsessed I am with it.

People often bring Kaukauna Port Wine cheese over to my house for our weekly podcast.  After they leave I like to go to town on it with a box of Wheat Thins.

It's so good and so addictive.  Also everyone likes it! It's the perfect cheese to have at a party cause it's always a crowd pleaser.

I wish my faucet spouted out this cheese.

Taylor Farm Southwest Chopped Salad.

This Taylor Farm Southwest Chopped Salad is delicious.

My grocery store only carries four of their flavors but it looks like they make lots more.

I love all their varieties and have enjoyed a bag everyday for the past two weeks.

I eat half for lunch and half for dinner.

Try it!  They are only $3 a bag.

Shaq Soda

I have been dying to try Soda Shaq ever since I saw it in a 7/11 a few months ago.

Basically Shaq partnered up with AriZona Beverages and came up with a line of cream sodas.

There are four flavors: blueberry, vanilla, strawberry and orange.

I tried blueberry and it was really good...but...I just couldn't drink that much of it.  It's very sweet and the can is HUGE.

It was tasty though and worth trying.

Buy it and split it with a friend or two.

They've done it again...New Bumble Bee Tuna Flavors!!!

Remember my post a while back about one of the greatest food inventions of our time?

Well Bumble Bee Tuna has some new flavors out.

I tried the Chipotle and Olive Oil one last week and it was incredible.  Almost as good as my all time favorite Spice Thai Chili.

I can't wait to try the JalapeƱo and Olive Oil one

Run and go get some.  They don't require any mayo.  They are that flavorful.  Do you know how crazy that is???

Even if you don't like tuna just try them, please, for me!

I tried a sample of this Pumpkin Soup from Trader Joe's and it was also blogworthy.

The whole box is like 180 calories.

So good and only $1.79.

Has anyone tried these?

Ceramic Mexican Style Pumpkin

I love this ceramic pumpkin so much!
Wish I could have them in a whole bunch of different styles.

Cool Nail Polish Combo

OPI "I vant to be A-Lone Star"+ OPI "Crown me already"

Another Antique Store

I can't remember the name of the second antique store I visited in San Antonio but I loved it.

It had a mixture of new and old items for sale.

I LOVED these old letter wall fixtures.
These bath bombs were in the shapes of cupcakes and sliced cake!
I'm a sucker for vintage Pyrex.
One day I'd like to own some Texas flag wares.
This vintage coffee sign was huge and awesome and would look great in my kitchen.
This is a chandelier made out of "order up" tickets.

I want all these items.

Mariposa is a fantastic and delicious restaurant tucked away inside Neiman Marcus department store in San Antonio, TX.

I've only been for lunch a couple time and each meal has began with a warm popover and strawberry flavored butter.

I always get a cup of their tortilla soup and a big fresh salad.

The dining experience always feels so special.  Plus there's a roller coaster outside the window.

Bush's Chicken

Bush's Chicken is an amazing fast food restaurant throughout Texas.

Their fried chicken is seriously amazing.

I love that their drive thru features a large menu on the side of the restaurant.

An actual person (usually an adorable, sweet teenager) then comes to your car and takes your order in person.  So cute!

Just go for the ice tea!

Myojo Ippeichan Yakisoba

This is my favorite at home yakisoba kit.

I used to eat this same kit all the time in my house in Japan and was thrilled to find it again.

I think what really makes this one great is the little packet of Japanese mayo and mustard.

You can get them on Amazon!

Garden Tea Lounge

My Mother took me to the Garden Tea Lounge inside the Craftiques Mall in San Antonio, TX.

It was such a fun, quirky space.

Everything was mismatched and a bit disheveled but that's kinda what I liked about it.  We had some delicious tea and scones.  It was so much fun and the teenagers who worked there warmed my heart. Such sweet dispositions for teenagers.

After tea we wandered around the store and I found some very interesting items.
This 3D Alamo wall decoration was awesome but had a crack down the side.
Who doesn't need a Jack Nicholson coffee table book?
The first page.
The back.
A ceramic box featuring Prince Andrew and Fergi??? Yes please!  I mean they might be getting back together.
A tea pot in the shape of a coffee shop.
I loved the individual booths in the store.  Sellers design them however they want and each one was unique.  This is a great place to spend a lazy afternoon.

Green Fields Market

I LOVE Green Fields Market in San Antonio, TX.

It's an adorable, cozy, "Whole Foods" type of store.

What I love about it however is that amongst the organic hemp seed and organic black corn tortilla chips you will find Oreos, Cheetos and other junk food.

This store doesn't discriminate and I love them for it.

It's kinda like Treasure Island in Chicago.

I stop in Green Fields daily when I visit my family because I love there drip coffee.

Texas Pecan is the best flavor by far.

The last time we were there my Mom and I tried a few crazy soda flavors.
So far I've only had the Gram's Cracker one.  It was a little too sweet but tasted just like it.  I love fun drinks like this.

Green Fields also has a great selection of pastries.
These are conchas (which means "shell") Mexican sweet bread.

If you live in San Antonio you really should be going to Green Fields.

Atsuko's Bento Box

I made a new friend!

Her name is Atsuko and she is from Saporro, Japan.

We met thru a program where you can meet up with people who speak different languages in your city.

I help Atsuko with her conversational English (her English is AMAZING) and she teaches me a few Japanese phrases.  I am such a beginner when it comes to Japanese but it has been fun learning and retaining more words.

Atsuko and I hit it off right away and have grown into fast friends.

She is such a cool lady and even made me a bento box lunch the other day.

The bento box wrapping was so beautiful.

She handmade me some onigiri with different seasonings and fillings.  One was filled with tuna and the other with salmon.  I made a special request for these because I haven't had them since the last time I was in Japan in 2010.  They were absolutely delicious.

The second level of the bento box contained pork that had been marinated in ginger and Japanese tomago egg.  The pork was very tender and flavorful and the tomago was the best I have ever had.  She sweetened the egg batter with a little sugar which made it different and special.

Lastly she included some homemade ratatouille which was also so good.  I'd never had it before.

Last weekend Atsuko, her husband Masa, Jeff and I went to a Japanese festival here in Chicago.

We had fun looking at the ikebana arrangements, listening to people play different Japanese drums and eating chicken teriyaki.

I'm so glad I have a new friend in Atsuko.  She is keeping my obsession for all things Japanese alive!

Planting Flowers

I planted flowers for the first time ever on Saturday.

I have always wanted to do this and thought it would be really difficult but it wasn't.

My friend Becca bought pots, flowers and soil and there you have it.

I'm not saying I'm ready to plant roses or anything but I think it would be so fun to plant tomatoes.

Espresso mixing with milk

I'm obsessed with the moment my espresso mixes with my milk in my iced latte.

It's such beautiful art.

Turquoise Cameos and I finally got Moccasins

My Mom and I LOVE cameos and turquoise.  To our surprise turquoise cameos exist!

What a beautiful combination!

Also I recently got a pair of moccasins at Marshalls that I LOVE.

They were only $25!  Go check out your local Marshalls and see if you can find some.
