The Counter

Today we ate at The Counter which is a restaurant in Honolulu owed by the guy who plays Jin on Lost.

You have to fill out forms to eat here.

It's a gourmet burger joint. Man I live sweet potato fries.

Mustela Hydra Stick

I worked at Bloomingdales in Chicago for about 9 months.

I worked on the 5th floor in Woman's Contemporary Apparel.

It was a very trendy place to be.

I made tw0 BFF's for life while I worked there: Sara and Anne.

Sara, Anne and I never had much money.

We practically wore the same thing to work everyday and bought all our clothes and accessories at H&M.

Unlike the other girls on our floor who wore designer brands everyday and who's parents were DJ's and who all went to fashion school.

It was brought to my attention one day that there was this really cool brand of lip gloss called Mustela.

It was cool because you could only get it in the baby section of high end department stores and it wasn't really a gloss it was a hydration stick and it was from France ...etc.

Pretty much everyone had one on our floor except Sara, Anne and myself.

I really wanted one so on our lunch break we went to this baby boutique on Oak street and found them.

Ummmm they were $8.

I just couldn't justify spending that much money on lip gloss.

But everyday thereafter I watched with envy as all the other girls on my floor used their Mustela stick.

I would ask Anne and Sara frequently if they thought I should get one.

They were always like "I mean if you want to?"

About 2 months later I broke down and bought one.

Its a pretty cool little stick.

I loved it but never bought another one until I got to Hawaii and literally walked by a store that had it in the window.

I had to get it for nostalgic reasons!

That and it was only $6 here!

Listen up!

I want this little doughnut machine so bad!!!

My brother and I love mini doughnuts and we love watching machines make them.

In fact I have been wanting to buy my brother this very machine for a year now but he doesn't have anywhere to put it!

I'm sure its more complicated then it looks.

The advertisement for it in Sky Mall magazine says all you have to do is put dough in it and it does the rest.

However I don't understand where the dough comes from.

I'm assuming you have to make it yourself.

That sounds complicated.

Anything involving the use of yeast sounds intricate.

One day I will own this machine and my brother and I will make hundreds of mini doughnuts and sell them to kids in our neighborhood for a penny!

I love Seltzer Water!!!!

The first seltzer water I ever had was New York Seltzer.

I was probable around 8 years old and I was living in Ohio at the time and every time my family would drive to Kings Island amusement park my Dad would stop at this great bagel place and I would get a salt bagel with regular cream cheese and a lime New York Seltzer!!!

Whatever happened to that company?

I haven't been able to find it since I was 8.

But that hasn't stopped me from my love of Seltzer, Club Soda and Sparking Water.

I wish all water was sparkling.

When I was in Italy for a summer the waiters would always ask me if I wanted still water or frizzante, I always said frizzante.

Sometimes I'm thirsty and I don't want water and I don't want soda but I want a little bit of carbonation.

I've loved carbonation ever since I realized how much it helped my stomach on car rides.

As I have mentioned before I am very prone to motion sickness.

I'm not too picky with my seltzer water and club soda. Canada Dry and Schweppes are great with a wedge of lime.

If I happen to be at a Walmart I'll pick up a few Sam's Choice sparking water which is only .75 and very refreshing.

I love starting my day of with an Orangina. You can also make your own at home with a little orange juice and a little club soda.

I discovered Club Orange when I was in Bermuda and love it! It's an Irish version of Orangina and I think its better. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find it anywhere.

I haven't had a Clearly Canadian in a long time but have always enjoyed their clean taste.

I don't really care for La Croix. But I'll drink it if I have no other option.

I think one day I would like to invest in a Seltzer Maker so that I will never have to drink regular water ever again!

Anything with the word "Factory" in it.

I will eat anywhere that has the word Factory in it!!!

I'm obsessed with the Old Spaghetti Factory!!!

Fruit Snacks

Lately I have been eating old timey, middle school style fruit snacks.

They bring back so many memories of food trades that used to occur everyday in the lunchroom.

Waiting for Guffman

My family, Jeff and I drove all around Lockhart, TX which is where they filmed Waiting for Guffman.

I'm sure you will recognize a lot from this video including the infamous Corky Stairwell.

If you haven't seen this movie please watch it tonight!

Ski Ball

My favorite game at arcades is ski ball.

I went to Chuckie Cheese with my cousins the last time I was in Texas and I caught this kid on tape.

He's got the right idea.

Twix, Twilight, Twitter

I've been trying to stay away from the 3 Tw's: Twix, Twilight and Twitter.

Well last week I broke down and bought Twilight!

It was only $7.68 at Walmart and it came with a sweet poster in the back.

So now I am one of those adults that I used to make fun of for reading books from the young adult section.

In my defense I am a sucker for forbidden love stories.

I am obsessed with Forbidden Love!

And that is what Bella and Edward have.

So for the record I am not obsessed with vampires but with Forbidden Love!

My friend Becca and I are obsessed with certain celebrity/ fictional relationships.

Not your typical Hollywood relationships like Brad and Angelina, more like Ed Burns and Christie Turlington.

We used to freak out in our office when we read gossip about them.

Don't even get us started about My So Called Life and the relationship that Claire Danes had with Jordan Cattilano.

I would try and bring up the subject with Becca and she would be like "Jeannie I cannot even go there right now or I will freak out!"

There are just some relationships that are so forbidden and tumultuous and yes fictional that Becca and I can hardly stand it.

Well Bella and Edward are totally in that category now.

Thank God I'm not around Becca right now or we would be discussing it non stop and probable break into a cold sweat.

There is also an extra layer of freak out added to the fact that Stewart and Pattinson also seem to have a tumultuous relationship going on in real life.

It's just too much to handle.

I called Becca twice yesterday to discuss this but she didn't pick up.

It's for the best.

That scene in the movie where he is playing the piano for her.

I can't even go there!!!!!!

O.k. this is the only post I am allowing myself to blog about Edward/Bella/Stewart/ Pattinson.

Here is a pic of me and my amazing friend Becca!!!!

The Sound of Rain

I haven't been blogging that much because I'm having a very hard time uploading photos.

I just now realized that this should not stop me from blogging.

People can read without photos right?!

I admit I really love blogs when they are accompanied by a photo.

Well, it simply can't be done, so for now enjoy my words.

In the last 5 minuets I have downloaded 2 nature sound tracks.

One is the sound of rain and the other rain with thunder.

6 minuets of the sound of rain hitting the ground.

I love it!

I really can't focus when music with lyrics is on.

I can't even write when most classical music is on because I enjoy it so much my mind follows it instictually.

Whenever I had to read or write papers in college it had to be in utter silence.

The sounds of nature however don't seem to bother me at all and I find them very soothing.

I love the sound of rain and thinking about times it has rained in my life, literally.

Like I'll think of a specific house I lived in and then try to imagine a rainy day I had in that house.

It makes me long for Mexican hot chocolate, blankets, socks and Sunday afternoon T.V.

I think I'm going to continue downloading these nature sounds and see what else they conjure up.
