Wrestling Bed

I am always on the hunt for awesome kids beds.

When I was younger I specifically remember seeing a bed that was inside an old timey antique car.

I would think about how cool it would be to have to open a car door to get inside my bed.

A friend of mine posted the above photo of a wrestling ring bed on Facebook today and I about died.

This bed is not only amazing but functional.

Those ropes ensure that your child won't roll off the bed.

Awesome Beach Towel

I was obsessed with this huge beach towel I came across in San Francisco.

Alas it was $40.

We are headed for colder weather anyway so I don't really need it but I am just so in love with a southwest print.

Burger King Flavored Ruffles

I picked up a bag of Burger King flavored Ruffles my last day in Mexico.

Verdict:  The first couple of chips you eat tastes exactly like a Whopper.  I kid you not.  It had this grilled taste to it that was so reminiscent of the real thing.  Unfortunately after a few chips the flavor kind of warps in to a BBQ flavored chip.  But those first few bits are surreal.

Coffee Ice Cubes

I was delighted when I was served ice coffee in Mexico with coffee ice cubes!

I've been meaning to make coffee ice cubes for sometime now but am never home long enough to crank some out.

The coffee ice cubes kept the coffee nice and strong instead of watering it down like normal ice cubes.

I am determined to try this when I get home.

Sperry Top-Siders

I'm not a huge boat shoe fan but this pair really caught my eye.

You can buy them here for $125.

Donuts and Coffee

I enjoyed a delicious cappuccino at a lovely street cafe in Long Beach, CA.  It was piled high to the sky with foam.

Why do I always Yelp donut shops wherever I go?  It always ends up getting me into trouble...delicious trouble.  With almost 1,500 5 start reviews, I asked Jeff to guide me to Bob's Donuts & Pastry Shop in San Francisco.  After a 30 minute walk straight up hill that just got higher and higher, we arrived sweaty and joyous.  I chose the chocolate old fashion and an apple fritter.  Jeff got a jelly donut and a chocolate buttermilk donut.  They were all delicious but the jelly was a real stand out.

Re: Blue Footed Booby

As you may recall I blogged last August about my dream of one day seeing a blue footed booby.

Well ladies and gentlemen I am happy to report that I saw one in Mexico!

We were out on a snorkeling excursion in the Marietas Islands which was already a sight to behold....

when suddenly our tour guide asked us if we anyone wanted to see a blue footed booby.  I freaked out and started screaming "Me!!! I do, I do!"  Jeff was shocked because I'm normally not a huge wild life fan.  He then guided us to a collection of rocks that boasted tons of blue AND yellow footed boobies.

Our guide told us that although they are mostly found in the Galapagos Islands a bunch have migrated to this cluster of islands off the coast of Puerto Vallarta.  When I shared this fact with my Father he immediately became (jokingly) suspicious.

"I wonder if someone is just painting those birds feet?  I mean what are they doing in Mexico?"  He said.

My Dad grew up in Mexico so I tend to take his word on everything.

The birds feet looked legit to me so I'm gonna go ahead and say there was no hoax :)
